An Evening
Iqbal’s Ek Shaam,
penned in August, 1907 on the bank
of the Neckar,Hydelburg, Germany.
Light of
the moon is quite,
Branches of
every tree are quite,
Birds of the valley are quite,
Vegetation
of the mountainous range is quite,
Nature has
become unconscious,
It has
slept in the embrace of night,
Such is the
spell of calm,
Flow of the
Neckar too is quite,
Caravan of
the stars is quite,
This
caravan is moving without caravan bell,
Mountains,
deserts, and rivers are quite,
As if,
universe is in meditation,
O my heart
be quite!
Embracing
the sorrow be asleep.
